What is her Department’s plans to assist schools to operate at full capacity?
We currently await further clarity from the national minister as to when primary and special needs schools will return to 100% attendance.
The WCED has done a survey of schools allowing them to indicate their need for supplementary safety and hygiene materials. The orders have been placed and the deliveries are being scheduled.
Schools have prepared plans to have learners return to school full time, and to advise the WCED as to what the challenges are. Schools have been advised to look at managing all available spaces to ensure safe distances between learners. Schools are investigating the use of screens between learners.
The education sector vaccination programme was completed this week, which will improve staff safety significantly.
