- What are the challenges that the sudden resignation of Minister Madikizela has presented to the Western Cape Provincial Cabinet;
- whether there remains unity and cohesion in his cabinet; if not, why not; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) what are the detailed plans to foster unity and cohesion within his cabinet;
(3) what are the plans to fill the vacancy in the Provincial Cabinet?
Answer Body:
- I believe Mr Madikizela’s decision to resign was the right and honourable thing to do, under the circumstances. To ensure that there are no disruptions to the workflow of the Department of Transport and Public Works, I appointed Mr Tertuis Simmers to act as interim Minister of both departments of Human Settlements and Transport and Public Works.
- My cabinet and I remain united in our shared cause to serve the residents of this province.
- An announcement will be made in this regard shortly.
