Whether her Department has conducted and concluded a forensic investigation into the financial challenges at the Golden Grove Primary School; if not, why not; if so, (a) what are the relevant details and (b) can a copy of the Forensic Audit Report that has been presented to the SGB of the school be provided?
Answer Body:
A forensic investigation has been concluded by the Provincial Forensic Services at the request of the WCED.
- The Department referred a complaint to the Provincial Forensic Services (PFS) detailing allegations of financial irregularities and a conflict of interest in respect of a governor who had business dealings with the school. From the investigation, there were several transgressions identified against two individuals, both of whom retired on 28 February 2018 and 30 June 2018 respectively. As a result, the WCED could not initiate disciplinary action against them.
