What cooperation and/or assistance does his Department and municipalities receive from SANParks or the national government in putting measures in place to prevent a recurrence of the devastating fires, such as those in the Table Mountain National Park and the University of Cape Town?
Answer Body:
SANParks actively participates in the Provincial Veld Fire Working Group as well as the Cape Peninsula Fire Protections Association. SANParks- Table Mountain National Park complies with the provisions of the National Veld and Forest Act 101 of 1998 in terms of the preparation and maintenance of firebreaks as well as readiness for firefighting.
