With respect to the amount of R12,9 million that was allocated to 145 sport federations across the province:
- How were the allocations determined?
- During the 2020-2021 financial year, virtual tri-lateral engagements were held with all district sport federations in the province. The tri-laterals were held between Sport federations, the District Sport Councils and DCAS.
- The process presented the opportunity for sport federations in the Western Cape to report on programmes which encompasses administration, development, capacity building, transformation and major events. This process gave federations the platform to highlight challenges and showcase their respective developmental programmes.
- Information from the tri-lateral report was considered during the adjudication process.
- The Adjudication committee consisted of the District Sport Councils, DCAS and the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation.
- Following the adjudication process, the Programme Manager and Accounting Officer sign off on the recommendations of the process.

- The funding policy guidelines of DCAS are considered during the allocation process.

- The funding given to Sport federations is to create an enabling environment for federations and clubs to excel, expand and develop their athletes within the Western Cape.
- We have witnessed the Covid-19 pandemic impact on the physical and mental well-being of people in the Western Cape and the return to play will largely impact and possibly alleviate some of the scares of the pandemic.
- Programmes focus specifically on development, capacity building, transformation of athlete’s clubs, federations, major events and communities.
- Special attention is given to marginalized groups like, Women and girls and Disability Sport.
- DCAS are by right the enablers and facilitators of these processes with the sport federations, who partner the department, implement and deliver on the programmes funded by the department.

- Programmes are measured through regular meetings with clients, annual Monitoring & Evaluation of all transfer funding and the tri-lateral engagements.
