(a) What is the number of teachers who have been attacked (i) inside school premises and (ii) in and around the school community and (b) how many of these resulted in (i) deaths and (ii) hospitalisations in (aa) 2014, (bb) 2015, (cc) 2016, (dd) 2017, (ee) 2018, (ff) 2019, (gg) 2020 and (hh) 2021 to date?
My department has informed me of the following:

This includes assaults by other staff members, learners, and the general public.

Attacks outside the school property are not required to be reported to Safe Schools as this does not fall under the jurisdiction of the WCED.

The WCED does not collect data on the hospitalisations – the Department of Health is the custodian of medical records. Schools have, however, reported the seriousness of each incident.
