With regard to his Department’s efforts regarding the remote work visa:
Since writing to the national Minister of Home Affairs and the national Minister of Tourism on 19 May 2021 to lobby for the remote work visa, whether he or his Department received any response to this proposal; if so, what are the relevant details;
whether he or his Department has brought the suggestion to the attention of the national Ministers again; if so, what are the relevant details?
To date no formal response has been received from the National Minister of Home Affairs.
The matter was raised with the new Minister of Tourism, Ms. Lindiwe Sisulu at the recent MINMEC meeting which was held on the 26th of September 2021. The Minister of Tourism was reminded that a response to the request was still outstanding. However, no response has subsequently been received.
