With reference to the reply to question 11 of 12 November 2021:

(a) Of the applications received, how many learners have been placed at schools successfully as at the latest date for which information available, (b) from the applications received, how many are from (i) other provinces and (ii) other countries and (c) how many of the learners in (b) have been placed at schools;

whether, from the number of applications received, there are any that were late applications; if so, what are the relevant details;

what is the number of applications that has been received after the closing date for applications?

Answer Body: 

11.     My department has informed me of the following (data below was extracted on 17 December 2021 at 10h00):

          (1)     We have received additional applications since the last reply to the member. The total number of unique applicants (Grade 1-12) now stands at 134 839. Of these:

                   (a)            112 001 learners have been placed (noting that this changes by the hour)

                             (b)            (i)         Applicants from other countries:   396

                                    (ii)        Applicants from other provinces: 2 659

 

          (c)            (i)         Placed learners from other countries:      283

                           (ii)        Placed learners from other provinces:     1 927

(2)      Yes, late applications were received (after the closing date).

(3)     Number of late applicants: 37 955

Note: the total number of unique applicants includes those for whom applications have since been withdrawn.
