Answer Body:
As at Thursday, 2 December:
- There were 2,725 active cases in the Western Cape;
- 16 confirmed cases of Omicron
- (i) South Africa announced the discovery of a new variant, later named Omicron, on 25 November.
(ii) The first cases of Omicron in the Western Cape were confirmed on 2 December.
