  2. whether there are any new programmes or other activities aligned with these remarks of the Premier that have been initiated; if so, what are the relevant details?

Answer Body:

(1)     (a)    There are currently two new schools for partnership in 2022. Both are in rural districts - Overberg and Eden and Central Karoo.

(b)    14 schools have been piloted. Currently there are 13 operating (Oranjekloof PS exited the pilot in 2018).

(c)     A five-year contract is generally signed. Those moving beyond the five years include the following schools:

  1. Trevor Manual PS
  2. Langa HS
  3. Forest Village PS
  4. Happy Valley PS
  5. Silikamva HS

(d)    There are various reasons for schools not continuing beyond the pilot. It may be that the contract period for the Service Level Agreement has come to an end, or that the community and school decided to no longer continue with the collaboration partnership as participation is voluntary. An operating partner may also choose to withdraw from the school.
