With regard to the proposed Single Transport Authority:

  1. Regarding the business case that has been drafted, at what stage are the internal discussions, (b) when does his Department expect that the plans will be finalised and (c) what are the next steps for the materialisation of the Authority?
Answer Body: 
  1. The Department is setting up engagements with Provincial Treasury, Legal Services and other stakeholders and will make further revisions to the business case based on their inputs.  
  1. The Department is aiming to finalise the above as soon as possible. 
  2. Once the business case and the accompanying draft enabling legislation are finalised they will be submitted to Provincial Cabinet for consideration.  Thereafter, they must be approved by National Government before the enabling legislation can be considered by the Provincial Legislature.  Note: The Provincial Legislture will need to pass the enabling legislation to establish the Authority and therefore all processes of public comment must also be followed.
