- How many illegal firearms have been confiscated by (a) the SAPS and (b) law enforcement officers in the province (across regions) during the last 12 months;
- how many firearms have been taken from (a) SAPS members and (b) law enforce-ment officers in the Western Cape during the last 12 months;
- how many people have been killed by (a) the SAPS and (b) law enforcement officers in the Western Cape during the last 12 months?
The Department is not able to reply on the requisite information in relation to law enforcement officers in the province (across regions) and this question should directed to the municipalities. However, the information in terms of the law enforcement officers, employed in terms of the Law Enforcement Advanced Programme (LEAP), are as follows:
(1) (a) The response to be submitted upon receipt from SAPS
(b) 125 Firearms were confiscated by LEAP officers.
(2) (a) The response to be submitted upon receipt from SAPS
(b) No firearms were taken from LEAP officers.
(3) (a) The response to be submitted upon receipt from SAPS
(b) No persons were killed by LEAP officers.
