No, The Western Cape Department of Local Government is not responsible for legislation regarding firebreaks. The National Department of the Environment, Forestry and Fisheries is responsible for the administration of The National Veld and Forest Act, Act 101 of 1998.
The Western Cape Department of Local Government through the Sub Directorate Fire Services is represented on the Western Cape Umbrella Fire Protection Association on which the national entities are active members. Communication is affected on this forum.
