Question Number:

Question Body:

(a)   What is the number of interns who have been employed by her Department in (i) 2014, (ii) 2015, (iii) 2016, (iv) 2017, (v) 2018, (vi) 2019, (vii) 2020, (viii) 2021 and (ix) 2022 to date and (b)(i) how many were absorbed into the Department and (ii) what are the details of their positions?

Answer Body:

(a) and (b)The table below sets out the information requested. It must however be noted that the interns who were subsequently appointed by the Department were not ‘absorbed’ into their posts but rather applied for these posts and were appointed following a fair and objective recruitment and selection process as per the Public Service Act.

Please also note that the figures below do not include any workers from the Expanded Public Works program (EPWP), since they are not employed by my department and are not classified as interns. EPWP workers funded by the Department of Social Development are employed by NGOs which receive funding from Department of Social Development for this purpose.
