 1. What is the teacher-to-learner ratio at the Ceres Secondary School;

2, whether the school management has reported the shortage of classrooms to her Department prior to the 2022 school year; if so, what progress has been made in this regard;

3. whether there was an application for mobile classrooms; if so, when is the outcome of the request expected?

Answer Body: 

 (1) The teacher-to-learner ratio at the Ceres Secondary School after additional post allocations for the 2022 year is 1:38.4

 (2)   No formal request from the school was recorded with the WCED’s Infrastructure Planning unit prior to 2022. However, the District has included Ceres Secondary on their updated priority list of schools to expand with additional classrooms in light of learner retention and new registrations for this year.   

(3)  A request for additional classrooms has been made by the district and this has been approved. 2 mobile classrooms will be scheduled for installation in time for the start of the second school term, subject to environmental and site development approvals being received timeously
