Premier

Outside of the provincial departments mentioned in the State of the Province Address, (a)(i) which organisations and/or businesses will be invited to participate in this cabinet and (ii) on what basis were these organisations and/or businesses invited and (b) when is this cabinet expected to meet with these organisations and/or businesses for the first time?
(a)(i)(ii) The Jobs Cabinet will include representatives from the following broad categories:
- National government and key national entities such as Transnet, PRASA, Eskom, and other national departments depending on the agenda.
- Provincial government departments and entities such as, Wesgro, Atlantis SEZ, Saldanha Bay IDZ, Casidra, Economic Development Partnership, etc
- Local Government: Economic growth and development Mayco members from City of Cape Town and the five districts, aligned to the Joint District Municipal Approach being implemented in the province.

(b) The purpose of the Jobs Cabinet will be to provide the provincial Cabinet with an overview of the state of Jobs in the Province, share and build on the Jobs plan for the Western Cape, develop a Joint Implementation Plan, which will include deliverables for all members of the Jobs Cabinet, develop the metrics for which the Cabinet will be held accountable, and monitor the roll-out of the Implementation Plan and deal with any blockages to implementation. Addressing joblessness and growing the economy is the main priority of WCG, and given its importance, like with our comprehensive Covid-19 response, the Premier, as the Head of the Provincial Cabinet, will chair the Jobs Cabinet.
It is the intention that the Jobs Cabinet will meet for the first time in May 2022.
