Whether any renovations and maintenance projects have taken place at the Panorama Primary School in Riversdale since 2015; if not, why not; if so, (a) what are the relevant details, (b) what engagements have taken place between her Department and the school since 2015, (c) what was decided upon and (d) what work has been done with regard to replacing the sections of the school built with asbestos?
My department has informed me of the following:
No infrastructure renovation or maintenance projects have taken place at Panorama Primary School in Riversdale since 2015.
(a) There is, however, an Upgrades and Additions project planned for this school. Implementation of the project was delayed in the previous 2020/21 financial year due to a portion of the existing property not being owned by the Western Cape Government. Ownership of the entire property by the Western Cape Government has been resolved.
(b) Site visits were conducted on 2 April 2016, 14 August 2018, and 24 March 2021.
(c) It was decided that the Upgrades and Additions project planned for this school will commence in Quarter 4 of the 2023/24 financial year.
(d) During this project all components containing asbestos will be replaced.
