With regard to challenges experienced at the Grootkraal UCC Primary School outside Oudtshoorn:
1. Whether it has been brought to her attention that a farmer is constantly attacking the school; if so, what are the relevant details;
2. whether her Department has made changes to the learner transport routes around the school; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
3. how many learners from the school are using learner transport;
4. whether her Department has paid the Norms and Standards funding to the school; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
5. (a) What is the (i) number and (ii) details of the vacancies that have not been filled at the school, (b) what are the reasons for these vacancies and (c) when will these vacancies be filled?
My department has informed me of the following:
1. The WCED is aware of conflict between the school and the farmer, with allegations being made by both parties.
The WCED is trying to manage the conflict on a case-by-case basis. Many of the allegations relate to conflict between the farmer and the former principal.
2. The existing WCED LTS routes have been cancelled as the learners authorised for the routes are not making use of the LTS transport.
3. None of the authorised learners are using the routes.
