Answer Body:

(a) GMT provided a total of 221 rental vehicles to the Department of Community Safety for the period of the sixth administration up to 28 February 2022.

(b) GMT provided vehicles to the Department of Community Safety which is in turn responsible for allocating these vehicles to its staff members. GMT is therefore not able to provide this information, and this request should be referred to that department.

(c) All costs in respect of the vehicles are incurred by GMT which in turn charges the department rental.

  1. Rental Cost:

Based on the information available on the GMT system the rental charged was R 19,010,982.39 for the period of the sixth administration up to 28 February 2022.

  1. Vehicle Operating Cost (inclusive of fuel):

Based on the information available on the GMT system the Vehicle Operating Cost charged was R 9,551,715.34  for the period of the sixth administration up to 28 February 2022.

(d) Fuel cards are allocated to specific vehicles and not to individuals. GMT is therefore not able to provide information in respect of individual drivers. The Department of Community Safety allocates the vehicle to specific individuals and this request should be directed towards that department.
