With respect to HIV and Aids cases in each district in the Western Cape since the 2017/18 financial year:

 

(a)   How many positive cases have there been in (i) 2017/18, (ii) 2018/19, (iii) 2019/20, (iv) 2020/21 and (v) 2021/22, (b) how many clients are making use of antiretroviral treatment (ART), (c) how many clients have confirmed viral suppression every year, (d) how many condoms have been collected at local clinics every year and (e) what (i) campaigns and (ii) initiatives are confirmed for this year in order to improve awareness in this regard?

e) (i) and (ii)

  1.  For STI’s
    1. STI/Condom week commemorated in February with the MEC at UWC to promote services provided, linking to HIV prevention
    2. Substructures, districts and Health promoters held various activations to promote healthy sexual and reproductive health choices. This including promoting condom use
    3. Messaging will be amplified during Youth Month targeted at youth
  2. For HIV/AIDS
    1. Linkages to STI/Condom month made and best practices gleaned
    2. Key message has been distributed to Health Promoters providing insight to purpose, planning, objectives and outcomes aligning to the National and provincial approach
    3. HIV testing and VMMC planned to be included in the Men’s health initiative in November leading up to the 16 Days of activism for no violence where the department follows 365 days of no violence approach
    4. World Aids day is commemorated on 1 December and the proposed plan is to mobilize health promoters, community health workers and strengthen partnerships to maximize impact on testing, and treatment. Furthermore, to raise awareness on the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Emphasizing the need to test, to vaccinate and to adhere to treatment following a collective approach with communities in response to HIV, TB and COVID-19 to further reduce stigma and discrimination
    5. Commemoration and activation of the 16 days of activism for no violence linking to the wellness and safety as key priorities to the provincial strategy plan and WC recovery plan
