With regard to the use of the Western Cape Government’s application (“app”):
(a) Which municipalities are currently making use of the app, (b) what concerns and/or reasons have municipalities given, if any, for not currently making use of the app and (c) how many beneficiaries are on the Housing Demand Database in the Western Cape?
[a] All municipalities will receive notifications if any person within its area of jurisdiction registers a new application or request an update to their existing application via the “App”. The department is still ironing out some issues with the City of Cape Town regarding the usage of the “App” and their existing database and the Western Cape Housing Demand Database(WCHDDB).
[b] he department has recently finalized the update of the interface between the “App” and the WCHDDB and will be embarking on a training and communication drive during the first quarter of 2022/2023 financial year.
[c] The number of persons awaiting housing on the WCHDDB currently stands at 560 000 as at 28 February 2022
