(a) How many community healthcare workers are there in the province, (b) what is their employment status and (c) on what sphere of government is their employment status dependent?
Answer Body:
a. The department is currently funding 3 981 CHWs of with 2 563 are employed in the Metro and 1 418 in Rural through conditional grants.
b. They are employed year-to-year via the contracted NPOs.
c. All CHWs are employed via NPOs. The Department has an annual process where a service level agreement is signed with NPOs and held accountable according to the contract
