Whether there is a (a) law or regulation, (b) standing order or instruction and/ or (c) guidelines prohibiting South African Police Service station commanders/station management from providing information to public representatives relating to crime statistics and police resources; if so; what are the relevant details?

Answer Body: 

The South African Police Services informed me as follows:

              (a-c)The South African Police Service is a National Department. All instructions

and standing orders are governed by the National Commissioner of the          South African Police Service (SAPS).

The annual release of crime statistics is a Cabinet decision.
