The West Coast Education District officials who work in the Berg River municipality (Redelinghuys, Eendekuil, Aurora, Velddrif, Porterville, Piketberg, Dwarskersbos, Laaiplek, Goedverwacht and Wittewater) arrange regular workshops on the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for Grade R practitioners.

Additional workshops on emergent literacy will be offered to Grade R practitioners in the second term.

All Grade R learners at the public and ECD Independent schools in the Berg River municipality are subsidised by R4, 800 per annum.

Grade R learners who are at public schools are also part of the National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP).

Lastly, Grade R learners from far outlying areas are transported to schools as part of the Learner Transport Scheme (LTS).
