Whether his Department has a strategy for the implementation of a similar green taxi/transport ranks such as the one launched by the City of Cape Town in Wallacedene; if not, why not; if so, when will the strategy be implemented?
Answer Body:
No, the Department does not have a strategy for the implementation of green taxi ranks and transport interchanges.
Municipalities, as planning authorities in terms of the National Land Transport Act, 2009 [Act no. 5 of 2009], are responsible for the design and construction of taxi/transport ranks, and not the provincial Department of Transport and Public Works.
