  1. Whether there are any Mass Opportunity and Development Centres [MODs] at schools in the Swellendam municipal area; if not, why not; if so, [a] how many learners participate on average and [b] what kind of activities are practiced at each centre;

Answer Body: 

Yes, there are  MOD Centres at schools in the Swellendam Municipality area namely:

  1.  Bontebok Primary School
  2.       Learner Registration                  : 493
  3.      Average learners per day         : 36.4
  4. Modified Activities include: Basketball,  Athletics, Rugby, Netball & Tug of War
  5. Swellendam Secondary School
  6.         Learner Registration                 : 323
  7.         Average learners per day       : 33.4

[iii]      Activities practised include: Basketball, Indigenous Games, Football; Athletics; Rugby & Netball

2        Consolidation of the MOD Programme is currently in process. Currently, further discussions are taking place and assessments are being made with regard to the introduction of additional MOD Centres.
