How many Social Relief of Distress Grants have been paid in (a) 2011/12, (b) 2012/13. and (c) 2013/14 in respect of maintenance defaulters?
Answer Body:
No Social Relief of Distress Grant was paid by the Western Cape Department of Social Development in respect of maintenance defaulters. In terms of the Social Assistance Act, 13 of 2004 the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) administers all grant types including Social Relief of Distress. The National Department of Social Development also mandates the Agency to be the budget holder of the Social Relief financial allocation.
