Whether her department is in a position to welcome and support learners into the province as a result of inward migration; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
The WCED welcomes and supports all learners, according to their need.
The department tracks the location of all learners using the WCED’s Central Education Management Information System [CEMIS]
New arrivals during the year pose a particular challenge. The WCED anticipates demand as far as possible, and plans accordingly to meet demand for accommodation, textbooks, furniture and teachers.
The WCED’s new School Admission Management Information [SAMI] system is making it easier to match learners to available places across the system.
