Social Development
(1) Whether the geographical area of Mossel Bay Municipality is served by any of his offices; if so, (a) which offices, and with regard to each of the offices, (b) what services are rendered, (c) the physical address, (d) who is the responsible person at the office, (e) what is the person’s contact details, (f) the budget for the management office and (g) how does the staffing look;
(2) whether any vacancies existed at any of the offices by the latest date mentioned on which information was available, if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (a) what is the number of vacancies, (b) at which offices are the vacancies and (c) when are the vacancies expected to be filled;
(3) whether he intends to constrict, terminate or expand any services at the said offices; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, (a) what will the extent of the (i) constriction, (ii) termination or (iii) expansion be and (b) what are the relevant details in this regard?
(1) The Department of Social Development renders Social Welfare Services such as child care and protection services, services to families, probation services, disability related services, substance abuse related services, care and services to older persons, youth development services, institutional capacity building services to NGO’s, social relief of distress, sustainable livelihood and services linked to the MOD Centres to the Mossel Bay Municipality via its Mossel Bay Local Office and a Service Point at the Thusong Centre (Kwanonqaba)

(g) On the staff establishment for this office there is 1 Social Work Manager, 2 Social Work Supervisors, 14 Social Workers, 2 Social Work Graduates and 3 Social Auxiliary Workers.
(2) There are currently 14 Social Auxiliary Worker, 2 Social Worker and 1 Social Work Supervisor vacancies at the Mossel Bay Local Office. The Social Worker and Supervisor vacant posts are currently advertised and the Social Auxiliary posts will only be filled once funding is available.
(3) The Department will continue to render the current services as part of their statutory responsibilities and will do so within the allocated budget.
