With reference to the South African Police Service Community Outreach Safer School Project launch in Zwelethemba, Worcester on 16 October 2014, (a) (i) how many police officers and (ii) which police units assisted with and/or participated in this event, (b) what was the total cost of this event and (c) what were the outcomes of the event?

Answer Body: 

The South African Police Services informed me as follows:

(a)  (i)  385 Sector Managers

                          25 Cluster Vispol Coordinators

                          25 Cluster Commanders

                         13 Station Commanders

 

                   (ii)  SAPS Band

                          SAPS Mounted Unit

                          SAPS K9

 

(b) The event was funded by the National office. Information in this regard can be    obtained by the Office of the National Commissioner.

 

(c) Children were educated about crime and violence at schools

Linking of police officers to school

Enlightening parents regarding safety at schools

Signing of an Integrated Western Cape School Protocol

Strengthening of police-community relationships

Community interaction regarding community safety
