Whether her Department spent any amount on private security firms during the past three financial years; if so, for each (a) what is the name of the firm, (b) where, (c) for what purpose and (d) at what price were the services of the firm utilised?
Answer Body:
Yes, the Department did spent money on private security firms the past three years as indicated below. For detail please refer to the attached Annexures.
2011/12: R130 590
2012/13: R202 195
2013/14: R789 661
Increases in the prices over the three financial years can be attributed to the more stringent specification requirements (which was vetted by the Department of Community Safety) for these security services given the security challenges that the Department has had to deal with in the past.
