- What is the estimated starting operational date of the satellite police station in Du Noon, Milnerton;
- whether additional staff and vehicles will be allocated to this satellite police station; if so, what are the relevant details; if not,
- whether staff and vehicles will be drawn from existing Milnerton South African Police Service allocation; if so, what are the relevant details;
what is the interim plan for addressing the high level of crime in the area and increase in violent crimes over the past three years?
The South African Police Services informed me as follows:
(1) There is no satellite police station in Du Noon. Du Noon is no 13 on the new priority list for construction of a satellite Police Station.
(2) Not applicable
(3) Not applicable
(4) Du Noon is currently the primary focus of the station’s activities in terms of the hot spot approach.
Increases/decreases in crimes in the area are monitored independently and available additional resources are deployed according to identified crime patterns.
In addition to this, emphasis is placed on community mobilization in the area and this has resulted in an increasingly active neighbourhood watch.
Du Noon has also been the focus of recent cluster operations.
