Whether the Premier's Advancement of Youth (PAY) Project is rolled out in the Cederberg Municipality; if not, why not; if so, (a) in which areas and (b) what is the total number of beneficiaries to date?

 

Answer Body: 

(a) The Premier's Advancement of Youth (PAY) Project is being rolled out in all the towns in the Cederberg Municipality.

Advocacy and Marketing

Letters were sent to all secondary schools in the Cederberg Municipality advertising the PAY Project. The Project was also advertised in the Weslander and Die Burger newspapers. Thusong Service Centres in the area assisted with the marketing of the Project as well as with the online application process.

Recruitment, Selection and Placement

The following departments have regional offices/facilities or schools to accommodate PAY interns:

    • Cultural Affairs and Sport
    • Department of the Premier
    • Health
    • Local Government
    • Social Development
    • Western Cape Education Department

Departments determine up front, based on available budget and infrastructure where PAY interns can be accommodated.
