Yes, the Department do fund sporting activities in the Cederburg Municipality.

The Club Development Programme in the Sport Promotion Sub-Directorate has the following functional clubs in the Cederberg Municipality:

The above mentioned clubs are supported with Equipment & Attire; Transport Subsidy, Registration and Affiliation Fees and Capacity Building courses over a three year period with estimated cost R220 000 for the 2013/2014 financial year.

The Recreation component funds and organises recreational activities in the Cederberg Municipality as follows:

  • A Recreation Community Hub/Centre located in Lambertsbay;
  • The centre consists of three (3) staff (Coach and two assistant coaches);
  • Total finance spend on the Coaches is R 109 236.00 per annum;
  • The centre operates from PW de Bruyn Primary school offering Indigenous and Board Games;
  • The centre also services the Old age home: “Huis van Liefde” offering them Golden Games;
  • The centre also services the broader Lambertsbay community with Big Walks, Holiday Programmes, Indigenous Games and Golden Games activities;
  • The centre has extended its service to the EPWP staff members in the area in promoting the Hub activities and the inter-governmental relations Act.

 Although there are no additional Hubs/ centres in other local areas of the Cederberg Municipality, the Department still promotes a replica service and has participants in nearly all the towns.

The MOD Programme:

The department supports the following MOD Centres: Sederberg Primary school (Clanwilliam), Clanwilliam High School (Clanwilliam), Citrusdal Primary school (Citrusdal), Cederberg Academy (Citrusdal)

Community Centre: Lambert’s Bay Community Centre

Expenditure per annum for equipment, attire, maintenance and staff at these centres approximately R580 000

Sport Infrastructure:

In the 2012/2013 financial year R94 000 was made available for sport infrastructure and in 2013/2014 R75 000 was made available for sport infrastructure and upgrading.
