(1) Whether any new (a) South African Police Service Act posts and (b) Public Service Act posts have been created for the new Lentegeur police station; if so, how many posts in respect of (a) and (b) and if not, why not;
(2) whether any of the personnel at the new Lentegeur Police Station have been transferred from other existing stations; if so (a) how many, (b) from which stations and (c) were the stations from which they were transferred from provided with an equal number of replacement staff; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
The South African Police Service informed me that:
[1][a] Yes , Ten (10) on 2014-05-09 in terms of the Fixed Establishment.
[b] No – All additional posts allocated were South African Police Service Act posts.
[2] Yes
[a] 154
[b] Lentegeur was part of Mitchell’s Plain precinct . When the Boundaries were cut and staff establishment assessed transfers were effected from Mitchells Plain SAPS, various stations in the Province, the Provincial Office and from other Provinces.
[c] This was dependent on the staff establishment and structure of the component from where an employee was transferred from. Transfers were considered in terms of the SA Police Service Transfer Policy, SSSBC Agreement 5 of 1999. If a vacancy was created, the vacancy was addressed by means of normal human resource processes . Members that were placed from Mitchells Plain SAPS already performed duties in the Lentegeur precinct/ sector. When posts were granted to Lentegeur on the Resource Allocation Guide / Fixed Establishment, the Resource Allocation Guide / Fixed Establishment of Mitchells Plain SAPS was amended accordingly.
