Whether any learner transport was or will be put in place for learners of TM Ndanda Primary School in Mossel Bay who travel more than 5 km, especially learners from ASLA; if not, why not; if so, (a) when, (b) from which pick-up points and (c) for how many learners?
The Eden / Central Karoo Education District recently received an application for learner transport to TM Ndanda Primary School. The application could not be processed because the responsible District officials found that the learners being applied for, including learners from ASLA, reside less than 5 kilometres from TM Ndanda Primary School and therefore do not qualify for learner transport in terms of the WCED Learner Transport Policy.
As an alternative, the IMG manager of schools in the area is currently dealing with the placement of 25 learners from ASLA at Isaluthiso Primary School, which is nearer to the residences of these learners.
