  1. My department is involved with a range of programmes and projects, specifically to redress the Apartheid spatial landscape. One such programme is the Built Environment Support Programme (BESP), collaborating with other departments (Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Local Government and Public Works & Transport) to ensure that the correct areas are being developed that brings about sustainability and integration. My department started a process to establish 10 year housing pipelines that enables relevant departments to align their projects and budgets. This will create integrated and sustainable human settlements and improved spatial targeting. My department is also busy with the development of an improved planning tool that will further enhance spatial integration.
