(a) How many learners who applied to schools are not yet placed per district, (b) what are the plans to resolve the backlog and (c) when will the plans be implemented?
[a] 1273. The figure is subject to change, mainly due to new arrivals in the province, and relocation. The breakdown per district is as follows: Cape Winelands [75]; Eden [48]; Central [172]; East [270]; North [186]; South [465]; Overberg [25]; West Coast [32].

[b] The department has ordered and are deploying 100 mobile classrooms where needed, along with extra teachers and teaching and learning materials.
[c] The department is currently implementing these plans.
