Whether there were any measurable outcomes of the R6 million that was transferred to the Municipality of Oudtshoorn by the Department of Water Affairs; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
The Oudtshoorn Municipality confirmed that it received a portion of RBIG (Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant) funding to the value of R6 739 259.53 from the Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation during October 2015 for work done by service providers on the Blossoms Future Deep Artesian Well Field project during the previous financial year. Payment to the amount of R2 759 606.68 was made whilst payment of the balance is pending the outcome of a forensic investigation.
These funds are utilised towards the exploration of well fields, which is an ongoing project.
