Yes, the Department does fund sport activities in the Central Karoo area. Detail is indicated below:

Sport Promotion

The Department embarked on rolling out Academies in the various Districts in the province including Central Karoo.

The Department has an Administration office located in Beaufort West.

Mass participation programmes.

The Department has a Club Development programme and this programme is supporting 13 clubs in the following codes, rugby, football, netball, athletics, cricket and volleyball by paying for transport, capacity building programmes, equipment, apparel and registration fees.” The clubs involved are:

• Beaufort West AC – Athletics
• Juventus FC – Football
• Laingsburg FC - Football
• Laingsburg NC – Netball
• Laingsburg AC – Athletics
• Laingsburg RFC – Rugby
• Merweville United FC – Football
• Players FC – Football
• Powerlads FC – Football
• Prince Albert Volleyball Club – Volleyball
• Prince Valley FC – Football
• Royal Blues – Football
• Striking Eagles FC - Football

The Department facilitated with the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation, the formation of the Central Karoo Sport Council, which held its first sport awards in December 2014 in Beaufort West.

The Department contributed to the Laingsburg Marathon, which is the qualifying race for the Comrades Marathon on 3 October 2015.

The Eden and Central Karoo held a joint Better Together Games on National Recreation Day in Oudtshoorn on 2 October 2015.

The recreation section of our department organized the following programmes in Central Karoo:

• Central Karoo Indigenous Games in Nelspoort on 6/6/2015
• Central Karoo Golden Games  for senior citizens on 14/5/2015
• Central Karoo Big Walk in Beaufort West on 4/10/2015
• First aid course for newly established Central Karoo Netball Union Clubs in Nov 2015
• Technical official coaching course for Central Karoo Netball Clubs on Nov 2015 in Beaufort West
