- Whether his Department will have any safety-promotion programmes for the youth living in high-crime areas during the September school holidays; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
- whether the programmes will be offered in (a) Kasselsvlei, (b) Ravensmead, (c) Bishop Lavis and (d) Elsies River; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
3. (1) No. No activities are planned for the September school holidays. The Department annually plans and funds holiday programmes with religious organisations during the June/July and December/January school holidays.
For the 2018 June/July school holidays the department funded 146 projects across the province with a total spend of R2 286 152.
The Department has funding of over R3.5 million for the December/January holiday programmes and will consider and evaluate all applications received.
- (a) No applications for funding have been received to run holiday
programmes in this area for the December/January school holidays.
(b) One (1) application for funding has been received from a religious organisation to run a holiday programme in this area during the December/January school holidays. The Department will evaluate the application and inform the organisation once a decision has been made.
(c) Fourteen(14) applications for funding have been received from religious organisations to run holiday programmes in this area during the December/January school holidays. The Department will evaluate the applications and inform the organisations once a decision has been made.
(d) Five (5) applications for funding have been received from religious organisations to run holiday programmes in this area during the December/January school holidays. The Department will evaluate the applications and inform the organisations once a decision has been made.
