  1. What amounts has her Department paid to the Karate Association Western Cape (KAWC) in (i) 2009/10, (ii) 2010/11, (iii) 2011/12, (iv) 2012/13, (v) 2013/14, (vi) 2014/15, (v) 2015/16, (vi) 2016/17, (vii) 2017/18 and (viii) 2018/19 to date to support athletes from the Western Cape who have achieved their national colours and participated in national and international competitions and/or events and (b) for any expenditure related to the operations of KAWC?
Answer Body: 

The Karate South Africa (KSA) Constitution was approved by the World Karate Federation (WKF) during October 2012. It was during this time that KSA confirmed that it would only follow the WKF Statutes.

The Karate Association of the Western Cape(KAWC)  was restructured along with other provinces as per the National Sport and Recreation Plan  requirements (demarcations).

In 2014 the Karate Association of the Western Cape Constitution was aligned to the KSA Constitution.

Karate Western Cape was officially formed on 12 September 2016.

The DCAS association with KAWC started as on 12 September 2016.

The WC Karate Federation became an affiliate member of the WCPSC in the 2017/18 financial year and has since been in good standing.

Before 12 September 2016, the Directorate Sport Promotion transferred funds annually to WP Karate, Boland Karate and SWD Karate.

In the 2017/18 financial year the Western Cape Karate received R40 000 (Ad-Hoc funding in support of athletes who competed at the 10th Karate WFK Youth Cup Championships in Umag, Croatia)
