Human Settlements
Of the R43 million that was granted to his Department for the purchase of land in the Imizamo Yehtu Informal Settlement at Hout Bay:
- Which pockets of land has his Department identified and purchased and (b)(i) how much of the available budget has been spent to date and (ii) what is the breakdown of the amounts spent?
- My department, together with the Housing Development Agency (HDA) identified 4 erven in in close proximity to Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay.
The properties measure 7,6433Ha in extent and are privately owned. The details of the properties are withheld for security reasons.
- HDA was appointed to acquire the land on our behalf. My department entered into a funding agreement with them on 25 February 2018, and transferred R46 million in March 2018 for the acquisition of the said land parcels.
- The HDA entered into Deeds of Sale with the respective owners on the following dates:

- Properties 1 and 2: Deed of Sale signed on 21 June 2018 in the amount of R8,5m for both properties.
- Property 3: Deed of Sale signed on 25 June 2018 in the amount of R14,5m.
- Property 4: Deed of Sale signed on 26 June 2018 in the amount of R18,5m.

The total cost amounts to R41,5m and excludes of transfer costs.
