  1. (a) What is the total staff establishment of the (i) Beaufort West and (ii) Laingsburg police stations, (b) what does the staff component serving these communities consist of with regard to (i) police officers, (ii) detectives and (iii) administration staff and (c) what are the vacancies for the total staff establishment;
  1. whether there are plans to fill the vacancies; if not, why not; if so, what is the time frame;
  2. whether all vehicles at these police stations are in working order; if not, why not; if so, how many vehicles are allocated to each police station?

5.       The South African Police Service informed me as follows:

          (1)   (a)   (i)         181

                        (ii)         55

                 (b)   (i)         Police Officers:             Beaufort West – 147            Laingsburg - 39

                        (ii)         Detectives:                  Beaufort West – 27             Laingsburg - 7

                        (iii)        Administration Staff:    Beaufort West – 34             Laingsburg - 17

                 (c)               Vacancies:                  Beaufort West –      -3          Laingsburg -     -12

          (2)  The posts will be prioritised for advertisement dependant on the number of posts and when the allocation is provided to the Province.

  1. Beaufort – West: Thirty one (31) vehicles are in working order, one (1) vehicle recommended to be boarded due to accident damages, five (5) vehicles in the workshop for repairs. Total of thirty seven (37) vehicles are allocated.

Laingsburg: Ten (10) vehicles in working order, three (3) vehicles in the workshop for repairs. Total of thirteen (13) vehicles are allocated.
