  1. (a) How many South African Police Service (SAPS) shooting ranges are located in the Western Cape and (b) where are they located;
  2. whether all shooting ranges in the province are fully operational; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
  3. whether all the SAPS’ shooting ranges in the province have ammunition and all the other resources required for shooting practice; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body: 

2.       The South African Police Service informed me as follows:

          (1)(a)     Currently one (1) SAPS Shooting Range Complex (SRC) in the Western Cape.

              (b)     This SRC is situated at Faure in Cape Town.

          (2) The SRC at Faure is not fully operational due to safety issues that must be rectified.

          (3) No, a shortage of ammunition at the range was experienced. This is being        addressed by National that have allocated 9mm rounds for maintenance shootings.
