With reference to the Emerging Business Support Programme launched at the University of the Western Cape on 2 August 2015, how many entrepreneurs enrolled for the training that started in September 2015?
During the first round of the programme, more than 400 small businesses have received the business strategy skills they need to grow their enterprises.
Twenty-five sessions took place between 1 September 2015 and 12 November 2015 and 405 SMME’s attended.
The entrepreneurs received training in the following key areas:
- Business Strategy Development
- Marketing and Sales Strategy Development
- Operations Strategy Development
- Financial Strategy Development
The breakdown of SMMEs trained to date:
• 181 in the Cape Metropole.
• 63 in the West Coast District Municipality.
• 73 in the Eden District Municipality.
• 68 in the Cape Winelands District Municipality.
• 20 in the Central Karoo District Municipality.
In total, 50 workshops have been planned and the programme is seeking to reach 1000 entrepreneurs.
Sessions will be held from 16 November to 23 December 2015 and 16 January to 29 February 2016.
Five training workshops were postponed due to the #FeesMustFall campaign. These sessions were scheduled to take place at the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
Alternative arrangements have been in place, such as additional workshops at external venues.
The project is on track and is scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2016.
