7. (1) No. The Department of Community Safety did not appoint any liquor inspectors for whom permanent employment can be offered. However, the Western Cape Liquor Authority (WCLA) has appointed two (2) additional liquor inspectors (the Western Cape Liquor Act does not allow for the appointment of interim liquor inspectors) on a fixed term contract from funding provided by the Department of Community Safety in support of the Alcohol Harms Reduction Game Changer. The WCLA informed me that the two additional liquor inspectors appointed in terms of Section 73(4) of the Western Cape Liquor Act will be equipped and resourced as per standard. Should these posts become permanent the WCLA is obliged to follow the normal prescribed appointment processes.
(a) Not applicable.

(2) In the Alcohol Harms Reduction Game Changer focus areas i.e. Gugulethu/Nyanga(Gunya), Khayelitsha and Paarl East.
(3) Yes, but with due consideration of the impact of the Alcohol Harms Reduction Game Changer and available funds.
