Police Oversight and Community Safety:
With reference to his reply to question 15 of 13 May 2022:
(1) Whether the SAPS have any plans to fill the vacancies in the Anti-gang Unit; if so, what are the relevant details;
(2) (a) what is the reason for the current vacancies, (b) what percentage of the vacancies will be filled in the current financial year, (c) when is it expected that the SAPS will fill all of the vacancies, (d) what is the reason for the budget decrease between the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial year and (e) what budget is required to capacitate the unit fully so that there would be no vacancies?
12. [1] Vacancies within the Anti-Gang Unit [AGU] will be filled through the application of human resource processes such as:
- allocation of entry level Police Act which is due in December 2022.
- re-enlistment of former police officials.
- promotion of personnel.
- personnel movement [transfers].
[2] [a) Vacancies arises through processes such as personnel movement and service terminations.
[b] 100% of vacancies will be filled during the 2022/2023 financial year.
[c] January 2023 following the graduation of the current intake of students.
[d] The budget allocation towards the AGU has been increased for 2022/2023 to R10 000 000. The additional funding was received from Head Office after the original reply was done.
[e] Compensation of employees are funded from National Head Office.
