Which steps have been taken to protect the residents, and particularly the children, of Powertown at Mossel Bay against the crime to which they are exposed daily?
Answer Body:
The South African Police Services informed me as follows:
The following is conducted in Powertown (Mossel Bay):
- Awareness campaigns and Imbizos are convened.
- A Self Defence Programme (for youth) was launched.
- Daily deployment of police visibility in the area.
- Reported crime is investigated with the aim to identify, arrest and ensure successful prosecution.
