Community Safety
[1] What is the staff establishment of the South African Police Service in Constantia in terms of (a) visible policing, (b) detectives and (c) administrative staff;
[2] whether there are any vacancies to be filled in relation to visible policing; if so, what are the relevant details;
[3] whether any new recruits will be deployed at this police station in 2016; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
The South African Police Service informed me as follows:
Constantia is a residential suburb located within the policing precinct of SAPS Wynberg. The question is therefore answered in respect of Wynberg police station.
It must be noted that small portions of the greater Constantia suburb is served respectively by Dieprivier and Kirstenhof police stations.
(1)(a) Visible policing – One hundred and eight (108)
(b) Detectives – Thirty four (34)
(c) Administrative personnel – Fifty two (52)
(2) A total of nine (9) vacancies presently exist within visible policing.
(3) SAPS Western Cape is currently refining the resourcing of police stations inclusive of the 2016 allocations.
